Modern Foreign Languages

Year-7

Statement of intent

Modern Foreign Languages at Campion aims to raise global awareness of languages, cultures, differences and similarities thus enabling students to understand and communicate with other nationalities. Modern Foreign Languages impacts at a range of scales from local to global encouraging students to develop communicative competence and to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to excel.   Modern Foreign Languages encourages empathy through the study of cultures and countries where French, German and Spanish are spoken.  At KS3 we learn how to ask questions and present ideas about a variety of topics encompassing other subjects such as numeracy, telling the time, geography, history and grammatical concepts.  At GCSE and A Level we cover social issues such as poverty, inequality and globalisation.    Modern Foreign Languages allows students to develop an interest what it may be like to live in other countries around the world.  “Languages for life.”
