Year 7 Introduction to Local Industry Day

On 23rd June all of our Year 7 students took part in the Introduction to Local Industry day. Siemens and XPOLogistics (previously known as Norbert Dentressangle) kindly came in to deliver sessions based around the industries that they are in.

Students also took part in a Food & Drinks Industry session with Business Studies teachers Miss Bulley and Mrs Broughton. This involved researching into Coca-Cola's products and then planning and designing a new soft drink for them to introduce.

Siemens delivered the Aero train exercise, where the students had to try and make a train carriage travel across a track using a propeller and elastic bands. Other activities included the Tower of Hanoi puzzle game, a picture matching exercise, a communication exercise and an exercise developed by NASA which involved thinking about prioritizing. Siemens Apprentices were also on hand to answer any careers questions that any of the students had.

XPOLogistics were represented by members of their Carlsberg site who brought their Logistics board game. This allowed students to learn about the process of moving a product from point of production to final stage. Students also enjoyed playing with the remote control lorry and forklift trucks.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Siemens and XPOLogistics for visiting us and making the day very valuable.
