Dear Parents/Carers

Strike Action – Wednesday 1st February 2023

Further to our communication on 23rd January 2023 with regards to the planned strike action by NEU members on the 1st February, we have made the decision to close the school to students in year 8, year 9, year 10 and year 12. The school will remain open for students in year 7, year 11 and year 13. Students in years 7, 11 and 13 will follow their normal school timetable, and students in year 13 will continue with their mock examinations as planned. School transportation and catering arrangements will continue as normal for those students in school. There will be no after school activities running on this date. Due to strike action our Year 8 parents’ evening will not go ahead as planned on Wednesday 1st February.

Students in years 8, 9, 10 and 12 will be set work by subject specialists via Google Classroom. Please ensure your child knows their log in details and has access to a device to allow them to complete the work set from home. If you foresee any problems with this please contact your child’s Head of Year in the first instance.

A Huggg food voucher will be provided to parents whose children are not in school and are in receipt of Free School Meals.

I am sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child and that they will experience disruption to their education. We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.

Yours sincerely

Ms P Hammond
