Return to school week commencing 8th March

Dear Parent/Carer

I would like to confirm the arrangements for next week.

Students returning to school on their first day should make their way to their form room.  From here they will be collected for their Covid tests.

All students, both in school and at home, will have tutor time from 8.45 – 9.00 am.

Students in school will have extended tutor time until 11.30 am to enable testing to take place.  Students will have staggered breaks.  During this time students will take part in a range of tutor led activities to facilitate a smooth return to school and learning.  Students in school will follow their normal timetable from 11.30 am.

On subsequent days in school from 9th to 12th March students in school will follow the pattern above remaining with their form tutor until 11.30 each day.

Students at home will have work set from 9.00 to 11.30 am.  We are unable to deliver live lessons to accommodate the testing and tutor activities that are running in school.  This work will be set by their normal lesson 1 teacher who will post activities in the Google Classroom.  Lessons 2 and 3 will start at 11.30 and 14.05 respectively.  We will continue to work on our four week timetable as we did before Christmas.

In the case of a positive test result, a member of SLT will speak to the student and move them discreetly to an isolation room pending collection by yourself and the issuing of a full PCR test to complete at home. In this case, your child will remain at home until the result of this test comes back.  There will be a further two lateral flow tests carried out at school for those who have consented and in the week beginning 22nd March we will be issuing home testing kits for all students.

Please find below a link to a walk through video of the testing station and procedure: https://youtu.be/repAmu0I9F4

Can I please ask that you ensure your child is wearing the correct uniform for school. If there are any issues with this, you must contact your child’s form tutor as soon as possible. Given that all windows and doors will be open for ventilation in accordance with government guidance, we will accept the wearing of either a Campion jumper or plain black jumper underneath blazers and/or wearing of an outdoor coat in a lesson should students feel cold. There will be no hoodies allowed.

I must also ask that you ensure that your child comes to school with a two suitable face masks, and a plastic bag to store them in, as well as their normal learning equipment.

Buses will run as normal. On buses, students should aim to sit in year groups or in marked areas. Masks must be worn for the duration of the journey.

Normal catering facilities will resume.

I have also posted below a reminder of the staggered return to school:
