Y10 Young Enterprise Students – Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby

On Wednesday 29th March four of our year 10 students participated in the area final of the Northants Young Enterprise Programme. Hannah Brighty, Naomi Afalobi, Avneet Dhuga and Freya Davies represented a team of 10 students from within school who have spent this year working on the development of their entrepreneurial skills and the creation of a product that will allow them to showcase their business and enterprise skills.

Throughout the course of this year our ‘Young Enterprise’ group, under the supervision of Mr Plaskett and Sarah Damani (Business Advisor) have developed and ‘road tested’ a range of ideas in an attempt to build on initial investment and cultivate greater profit margins. The product that was showcased at this area final was a range of ornate lights presented within a different examples of recycled bottles. These looked particularly spectacular when displayed as part of the trade fair and showed innovation and skill with regard to product development.

During the evening the team were asked to showcase their product within a trade fair, present their work through a formal ‘pitch’ or presentation to an audience of over a hundred, take questions and analysis from a group of business experts and sell their product to a group of invited dignitaries and guests that attended the event at Rockingham Motor Speedway. All this took place alongside a range of other competing schools from across the county from both the private and pubic-sector. Campion students were also the youngest to enter this stage.

Our students were a credit to our school. Their enthusiastic, professional and confident approach coupled to a superb product was positively commented on throughout the evening. They achieved the distinction of being awarded the ‘Best Trade Stand’ on show and were busy throughout the night dealing with eager customers keen to buy their product.

Much of this work has been done independently. Team work has clearly been a key part of the success achieved. This work again demonstrates the unique nature of the students we have here at Campion. The sparky, innovative, focused and humble approach demonstrated by these four students is something we are very proud to champion. Well done and best of luck in your future business adventures.
