GCSE results round off excellent exam season at Campion!

Students and staff are celebrating for the second week running after receiving our GCSE examination results. In the year when the standard of GCSEs continues to be strengthened, changes have occurred at exam board level and new national measures of performance have been introduced, Campion students have achieved well.

Despite the national decline in results, our outcomes for Maths and English continue to increase with 77% of students achieving English at A* - C and 72% achieving Mathematics at this high level. This also led to a pleasing increase in the number of students who also achieved what is now called ‘The Basics’; an A*-C in English AND Maths. Other outstanding results were achieved in subjects such as Art, Graphics, Music, PE, Religious Studies, Textiles, Triple Science, Music and PE who averaged 92% A*-C – quite fantastic!

In addition to these superb subject performances, we also have some very well deserved individual successes too. Congratulations to Mark Leyden and Mark Potts who both achieved a stunning set of results with 10A* and 1A, closely followed by Natasha Partridge with 9A*, 1A and 1B. Eighteen students achieved outstanding individual results achieving 8 or more A*/A grades which is tremendous.

With so many changes to GCSE this year, students (and staff) were understandably anxious about their results but they have risen to the challenges of GCSE with a determined focus and we are delighted that their hard work has been rewarded today. A huge amount of credit also goes to our highly skilled teaching staff and to supportive parents too.

We are delighted for all of our students whose hard work has paid off and of whom we are very proud. Congratulations! Claire Whitmore Headteacher
