Year-7

Intent

  • For all students to make progress physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally through high quality teaching and learning in order to reach their full potential. Supporting students to be healthy and happy, succeed in life and contribute to society.”

Physical Education at Campion School

We believe a high quality PE curriculum should be an integral part of the whole school curriculum and one that staff, pupils and parents understand and can contribute to. Through PE & Sport our students learn to develop the important qualities of achievement, character, excellence discipline, resilience, communication, team work, and ambition, leading to improved concentration and attitude.

Our PE curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils develop the fundamental skills and competence to excel in a wide range of physical activities by providing a broad & balanced curriculum with opportunities for all to be enjoyed.

Our mission is to improve and increase the quality and quantity of high quality PE for pupils, to show how PE can enhance students’ attainment and achievement and to create pathways for them to continue to be active beyond school.

We are striving towards improving the delivery of the teaching & learning of PE in order to promote participation, progress and performance. ‘High quality PE and school sport produces young people with the skills, understanding, desire and commitment to continue to improve and achieve in a range of PE, sport and health-enhancing physical activities in line with their abilities’ (DCMS Learning through PE & Sport).

Our school also recognises the impact that the provision of a high quality PE and school sport curriculum has on the whole school and that it can lead to whole school improvements.

Where can Physical Education take me?

Physical Education is an excellent base for a university degree in sports science, sports management, healthcare, or exercise and health. Physical Education can also complement further study in biology, human biology, physics, psychology, nutrition, sociology and many more. Physical Education can open up a range of career opportunities including: sports development, sports coaching, physiotherapy, personal training or becoming one of the next generation of PE teachers. The transferable skills you learn through your study of Physical Education, such as decision making and independent thinking are also useful in any career path you choose to take.
