Technical Education

As part of the ADTV Faculty, Campion offers a unique opportunity for students to study the subject of Hair & Beauty and Motor Vehicle Engineering.

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (VRQ) is a Technical Award specifically for 14-16 year olds and is equivalent to a GCSE.

This qualification aims to support young people to:
- Develop a broad and comprehensive understanding of the hair and beauty sector
- Develop knowledge which spans the entire vocational sector and related industries
- Develop academic study and transferable skills that will support progression within the hair and beauty sector and more broadly.

IMI (Institute of Motor Vehicle Engineering) Level 1 Certificate Service and Maintenance Engineering (VRQ) qualification is primarily developed for schools and colleges to deliver to learners aged in the 14-16 age group with an interest in the service and maintenance engineering industry, but without a clear idea of the job role they wish to undertake in the future. It is therefore designed to provide learners with the opportunity to experience an introduction to a wide range of disciplines associated with the service and maintenance engineering sector including:
- mechanical engineering
- electrical engineering
- automotive engineering
- vehicle maintenance and repair
- design and manufacturing
- fabrication and welding
- vehicle paint spraying

KS4: What will students learn?

Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy has been and remains an extremely popular vocational area that many young people are enthused by and aspire too. The aim of this qualification is to use the hair and beauty sector as a vehicle to develop learners more broadly, so they are prepared and equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in any context.

Service and Maintenance Engineering is assessed by using externally set and marked on line tests, internally marked practical tasks and written assessments. There is also a written project which encompasses the synoptic assessment element to this qualification.
